Default Finally got my Code 42 fixed

Was getting a code 42, EST. Put in two new modules. Turns out, the single white wire (now off white with age) going into the distributor was not making contact, no matter how much I tried to push the clip thing in place. Fabricated an extension with spade ends and ran it between distributor and clip thing and code 42 went away right off. Still have a dead tach and those connectors seem to be tight. Maybe I fried my tach board somehow. Anyone know how I check that out? Tach boards are about $75 if I remember.

I think you should be able to test the tach output with a dwell meter. I think the procedure is in the service manual.

Does the tach go to zero when you turn the ignition on? If so, it may just be a bad tach filter (mounted on firewall, engine side).

Been running without a tach filter for many, many years. Don't even remember where and how it connects up. Maybe a picture of it in the service manual, I hope.

Did some searching and found info on the tach filter. One end of the filter goes to the now blank slot on the distributor connection beside the est wire. Need to find other end when I get home. Must have a dangling wire somewhere that is not connected. I think the tach is just not connected, sans tach filter or not.

Turns out I forgot to connect the tach wire to the distributor. It had fallen down below a bunch of wires/hoses and I just forgot. Feel so stupid!
