Default 69 clock, cleaned

Cleaning the clock in my 69 350/350 was actually pretty simple, also filed the points got them all cleaned up. So now let me see if i understand how this clock really works, Now that the clock is cleaned if i move the points actuator away from one another the pangolin starts spinning back and forth. There for the clock is working ? the clock will work approximately a minute or so the points will touch and then the clock stops. So when i plug the clock in to a 12 volt system again do the points fire and separate, an the clock starts working, and if this is true the clock will continue to work every time the points re arc. Oh by the way the pangolin will continue to spin back and forth after the points make contact for about another 30 seconds giving the points time to separate again over and over is this correct. thanks all firstvett69.

The stock clock is mainly a balance wheel/spring type of mechanism. But, the winding of the spring is done by the electrical solenoid and it winds the clock enough for a few minutes operation. About every 2 minutes, the contact points will make connection which causes the solenoid to be powered and, thus, rewind the power spring. Then it runs as a normal gear/balance wheel clock until the next rewind. Pretty neat, actually.

I rebuilt my clock also....sorry did not take any pict. I loved the way the solenoid parted the points loading the spring for the movement to take place.

I had a strange thought when I watched this and saw the spark of the points........never carry a gas can in the car........accident/spilled gas, mixes with air and !!pow!! taken out by my clock......man talk about your time running out.

I thought I was going to get my clock cleaned a couple weeks ago when a supercharged mustang pulled up next to me at a red light... Oh, sorry, this is about real clocks...
