I have question ... since I bought a HEI upgrade kit will I need different spark plug wires or just normal wires? I seen in zip corvette catalog they have HEI wires. Thank you 0

It's a crap shoot... If your going to rebuild the orig. REBUILD it. A new cap and vaccum adv isn't a rebuild. New bushings, shaft, cross gear, etc. Find a good machine shop to press in and hone the bushings (take the new shaft with you). Good luck with the cross gear. Pertronix units are flimsy, and not really HEI. Bottom line, you get what you pay for... spend the $$. After trying an orig. rebuild/Pertronix II, my Performance Distributors DUI is going in Monday... It's real HEI, precurved, made in America by pros, and expensive.

So why isnt a pertronix ignitor II a "REAL" HEI? Why would I buy a whole distributor when I can keep the stock look? I do NOT like the FLASHY colors with a lot of the new distributors.

Default just to back LArs up!

All,

Lars rebuilt my distributor something like .... 5+ years ago! I just had the engine rebuilt and ignored all of the "advice" to "upgrade" to an MSD Dissy etc. ...etc ...

Well the "old" LS-5 (now 489) pumped out 511 hp on points! 'nough said for me. I can adjust dwell when I need to and don't put alot of miles on the car.... so a 500 horse 'vette is fine with me. If I want to go "faster" ... I will with gearing.

Im not getting the pertronix ignitor II in hopes my vette will go fast.... I got it because it gives a more consistent power to the moter... I am NOT about keeping every thing stock on this car but I wanted a stock looking diistributor.
