Need help with emblem placement
I can't post pics for you, but this is where having some good picture books makes good reference! I've mounted alot of emblems just by eye from pictures. Use a light adhesive masking tape for your mounting stencil on the car. I'll use one 'datum' strip of tape that is measured from a body crease, panel edge, etc...for the top/bottom and sides of the emblem. This keeps them in line with body features. Now that it's lined-up, use tape to cover the area you're drilling thru. This keeps possible chips and drill 'walking' to a minimum. Eye the emblem to the tape 'datums', and pencil-***** the emblem pin ends to the tape. I then hold the emblem steady while I move around a bit to see if it looks good. After I convince myself to comit, the drill comes out...
Another way is to flip the emblem over and trace it on the tape to give a feel for placement and balance. Walk around it, change if necess. If you end up with an uneven look, you still have the option to 'oblong' the holes a bit with a file to give you some mercy. Be in the mood to do this, and take your time!
This is 'pre-Miller time' work, even though I could use a couple to settle my nerves before drilling! :smash:
