Default Borgeson Steering Install Questions

I've bought the steering kit and will be installing soon (early winter project).
Anyone already running Borgeson box with Headman headers?? Mine is a big block and I'm assuming I will have to dimple the headers. I'm worried this will affect the ceramic coating. Will it flake off?? what type of hammer/tool to use?? Any experience here is appreciated.

I've dimpled ceramc coated Hedman headers by carefully squeezing a 1/2" bar into the region to be dimpled with a C-clamp. The ceramic coating remained intact. You could back the other side of the clamp with some soft wood to avoid flattening the other side of the header.

Kim,

Therein could lie your problem. Don't come up with a decision based on an assumption. The Borgeson boxes ARE a little bigger than the standard box, but only minutely on the side facing the engine. The steering column will have to be shortened and the front end of the box MAY interfere with the brake lines, but these are simple and easy fixes.

If you have even a quarter of an inch clearance between your standard box and the headers, more than likely the Borgeson box will not hit the headers.

Get back to us when you've fitted it.

Made the install, and after dimpling the header I realized I could have use a U-joint instead of a ragjoint. duh...
They sell a U-joint that can replace the ragjoint.

Check the article I did for Corvette Enthusiast covering the *worst case* install I could come up with...my car!

Big block, .600" raised port heads, 2-1/8" Hookers etc etc.

I actually had better clearance with the Borgeson box vs stock.

Article starts on page 42.
