Hi, I'm new to this forum and I have a subjective question to ask. I own a 1980 L-48 with approx 14,500 miles. Black on black leather, auto, T-tops, etc . It's super sweet but I don't have time for it now so it must go.
My question is what would a fair asking price be. Pretend your me, not someone trying to buy it for cheap. In other words what is it's market value. The list of mods are: headers, new exhaust pipes and mufflers, edelbrock intake, and an accel coil. I can replace the exhaust manifold and intake manifold with original if that would increase the asking price. There's nothing to hide here it's in great shape paint etc all in great shape. It's been garaged it's whole life and the whole bit. Not a show car but very nice. I'm just looking for a good starting price for future ads. Thanks for any opinons.
Luke; Selling/asking price can be a subjective thing. One of my price guides for your car in stock form shows a low of 6.5K to a high of 15.5K. Check some local publications as well as national to get a feel of what's being asked. Of course anyone can "ask" for just about anything, it's what they actually sell for that's not generally found out. Good luck.
I'm no expert on prices, but a 14.5K original mile car has to be worth a premium. That being said, I think any modifications done to the car would detract from its' value, not add to it. Most collectors are interested in original cars....especially low mileage ones. Hope this helps. Chuck
Luke-
Are you sure it's 14.5K miles, and not 114.5K miles?! Documentation and paper work can reinforce milage claims. Food for thought while price searching... :chevy
I'm sure of the mileage. I haven't owned the car it's entire life but when I first saw the car I knew it was a low mileage car. It's exhaust pipes where rusted through from condensation, which was the result of low use. I can't prove beyond a doubt that it has the original miles, I guess there is a way to. Anyone could do restoration and stuff but it's defintely not 114K Maybe a car fax or something.
