Default birdcage opening

I am installing HushMatt in the car and was considering if I should put a piece over the opening by the foot well which is ultimately covered by the plastic foot well cover? I am wondering if that will trap any moisture that may get into that area - hence not allowing it to vent? I realize that moisture is not suppose to be in there, but am working towards making the car water tight.

Next question: the plastic foot well covers have carpeting on them....is that factory or should they be just plastic/no carpet?

Thank you!

Hi W,
I believe that the kick panels had carpet on them starting in the 78 model year.
I don't see what help the heat barrier would be at that location.

Alan

Sound deadener -- if you want, you can put Hushmat inside that area.
May not do a whole heckuva lot.
