Default conversion to PB issues

Hi posting on behalf of C3 friend with poor written English.

He converted his 69vert to PB and has the following problem.
With engine on brake pedal comes back very slow.
With engine off all is firm and pedal comes back normal.
I have read in other threads that this is due to air in the system.
He did bleed the system several times also benchblead the MC.
He raised the back of the car for bleeding, calipers left half/right half etc etc.
He reshaped hole (egg shape), attached to other hole on brake pedal.
Replaced booster and MC(1 1/8) with other new one but the symptoms stay.

Hes ready to pull his last few hears.
Does anyone have a sugestion or is there a special way of bleeding.

thx Ray

Did he use a hydroboost? .. if yes, then its normal to have the pedal comes up slowly for the 1st 200 miles or so, then it will gradually be better. You can also check the return line burb fitting on the hydroboost unit, if it has a small hole, try to drill it into a slightly bigger one, that would help bring the pedal up faster.

These 2 lines would point to a bad booster.

Wait .. no I take that back. You replaced the booster and the problem persisted.

You have a bad vac check valve. (The thingy on the booster that the manifold tube plugs into)
