What's really goofy is that each year from 1970-1972 the system was changed. For instance, on my '72, the only gear on a manual trans that activates TCS is 4th however, in '71 3rd and 4th activate it.
The solenoid on the drivers side of the carburetor of a '72 is only to stop the engine from dieseling when you shut it off while on the '71 it is an active part of the TCS vacuum advance as well as the idle system.
Oh, and iirc the '71 has 2 relays for the TCS system on the engine side of the firewall near the wiper motor while the '72 has one on the interior side of the firewall near the base of the windshield which I never found even with the dashpad completely out of the car.
I have pictures of the 1970 setup but I have no idea how it works. Only that it uses a vacuum hose to both the front and the rear of the carburetor.
Cliff, I am not following you wrt WOT. On my 70 Lt-1 manual transmission, there is no sensor to detect WOT. So, If you are in 1st or second gear and floor it, no vacuum advance. Ok, not much impact here at WOT since your system vacuum falls dramatically and as you rev mechanical advance dominates
Bullshark
Actually Bullshark, I probably inferred that from reading that the TCS system is inactive at WOT. My brain does that kind of crap to me all the time. Makes more out of something I read than the author intended.
The various manuals do not even list a TCS for a 1974 automatic. But I have one in the basement from Dr. Rebuild. I can install it if need be. Don't know how but that is usually how I start emissions projects. Then I have to redo timing, etc. I basically gave up years ago although things are pretty stock.
Hi VD,
Paragon, Corvette Central, and Zip list various parts for the TCS and CEC systems.
You need to be very careful just what you order since the proper pieces vary from year to year, and for 4-speed and auto cars.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks, Alan. I'd checked CC but not the other suppliers yet.
