do you mean using dry ice (frozen CO2)? .. I know sometimes they use it to cool the fuel in some racing events.

What are you trying to accomplish? The effect of cooling the fuel/intake charge would not be noticeable by the seat of the pants.

I've seen the ricers at the local drag strip put bags of either ice or dry ice on some parts of their turbo turd motors, never really spent to much time trying to find out where they were putting it, after all it's a ricemobile

Here you'll find a fuel cooling box that uses dry ice to cool it down. Its very common for the racing purposes.

No ice it is a system that looks like a NOS system with a bottle and I think cool the intake , or the fuel, Just Bing "CO2 engine cooling" I guess it does the samething as a cold air intake, or keeping your fuel and intake cold. We all use things to do this ie cold air intake, insulator plates for the carb.... and like HamedUp said they use Dryice to cool same thing you also see them using CO2 to cool the after cooler on the turbos, just wanted to know if anyone had such a system ??

the colder the air the denser it is, witch = more HP it also lets u bring on more boost with out detonation.

you can also use MW50 to shock cool air in turbo apps,

using chilled fule can do the same thing.

Try this as an experiment. Get hold of a CO2 fire extinguisher. Duct the output so that it discharges on your intake manifold and fuel lines. Do a few passes to a get a baseline 1/4 mile time. Do it again and this time fire the extinguisher at the same time. Any faster? How long did the extinguisher last?

I'll give you a hint- you'll run out of CO2 before you run out of 1/4 mile.

I've seen kits like this where the C02 nozzels face the front of the turbo intercoolers to cool the unit/air charge.

my friend has that on his RX-7 drag car although you have to make sure that the turbo isnt going to suck in the co2

Seems like it could serve as a viable intercooling medium into a cold can for fuel, and/or as an intercooler placed when within the walls of an intake.

The princile is simple enough. If a compressed gas is allowed to expand, it looses heat and will cool an adjoining surface. I guess that you would need to tote around a CO2 bottle much like a nitrous bottle, though it would be a little safer in the car.
