Default 76 Stingray emblem

My driver's side Stingray emblem fell
off. I ordered a replacement from Eckler's.
The holes don't line up with the pegs on the
back of the replacement. I've got a few ideas
but I'm not sure which one to pursue.

All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.'

thanks,
adam

Don't do anything foolish, it probably is as Pete has said, not the right one.

Thought it was the other way around and early emblems had 4 pins. My '75 has the original fenders and original emblems and they have 3 pins.

Just typed a response on cell and don't think it took!

Thanks for your responses! It does have 3 pins. Haven't
had time to call Ecklers and the 76 is in the shop geting a
new engine, radiator, rebuilt carb, trans, and on and on.

Does this mean that I'm not dealing with an original fender?

Cheers,
Adam

Also, if I ordered another from year one would the
emblem come from the same maker? In other words:
is there a snow ball's chance that it would fit?

Thanks again

How about no pins..........

My '76, which I bought new and is still all original, had the Stingray emblems glued on at the factory.....

Nope, they all have pins.

The factory used the pins to locate them but all emblems had double sided tape from the factory. If your removed your emblems, you would find pins.

Default Upon further reveiw.....

I do have holes. You can't feel them.......or the pins which are flush with the inside of the fender. But when I put a flashlight inside there and took a look, I could see two spots. One looks like it's behind the "T" and the other is behind the "Y"........

Cutting off the pins and using double-sided emblem tape will solve your problem. Some people use the tape even if the pins are aligned with the holes because the pins may not fit snugly in the holes.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up sawing of one of the them. You can see about 1mm of glue in a spot from the original. When I can muster up the courage to part with it for a weeks/months I'm having it painted, and the point shall be moot.
