Default Tuner for Crossfire?

I'm interested in getting a tuner for my 1982, but I know very little about it. I'm familiar with OBD II tuning, but I hadn't even heard until OBD I until I got my car this week.

What do I need?

There's not a tuner for a crossfire like modern cars. You can buy a chip, and there are some that burn custom chips but that's probably not warrented until you do a lot of other upgrades. There is also a ECU swap to a later model computer that you can then get a tuner for, I'd look at http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/ for details on that. I looked into the ECU upgrade when I had my 84 but couldn't give you details from memory.

Do a search on the 'renegade' manifold guys that are dynamic at coming up with crossfire solutions.

If you don't have a copy of the '82 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual, you should buy one. It has lots of info on how to properly check out and set up that system. You do need to balance the throttle bodies (among other things 'to do') and will need a manometer [or make one] to make adjustments.

You might do some searching on the internet (Google or Yahoo) on the Chevy CrossFire system to see if some sources for engine service/setup can be identified.
