Can anyone describe to me where to connect the 'console ground' under the shifter plate? My AIM does not show exactly where to connect it to. I presume the harness is connected to a ground at the fuse box or neg battery cable so I'm guessing that it needs to be connected to the heater a/c control??? Help is appreciated.

Don't know what you're working on but...
my 71 connects at the lighter
There is usually a small spade that screws on the side of the heater control that a 14 gauge double black female slides on to.
You can't have too many ground so attaching a few extras is a plus.

[Well....not to 'pick', but you CAN have too many grounds in some instances. {ground 'loop' problems...usually with electronic devices or motors} It is best that each device have only one source for a good ground.
just reinstalled my 71 auto console and i don:t remember a ground wire strap like pictured above. mine must of had a ground in the harness. i only saw one wire going to my cigarette lighter and it was a hot wire located at the bottom of the cigarette housing. it must have been grounded correctly because when i reinstalled the console lights they did not work until they touched the metal heater controll assembly or the shifter stick
