Default Heater & AC Control

Hello all,

I need your help on a couple of things.

1. The AC control has MAX, NORMAL, BI-LEVEL, VENT, HTR and DE-ICE. Please indicate wnat is the function of each, i.e. what AC vent gate would open on each position.

2. Please refer to the link below:

The problem is that the Compressor does not switch off when I position the wheel on HTR. Tha first picture shows the AC control from the back and the 2nd picture shows the swith. Am I missing a piece of plastic that attached to the switch (saw like) tip? If yes, how does that plastic look like? Is it the same as the Z-shaped one on the back of the AC control?

Thanks
Fahad

max-a/c on compressor on, heater valve closed, air coming out upper ducts
normal - a/c on compressor on, heater valve open, air coming out upper ducts
bi-level- a/c on compressor on, heater valve open, air coming out upper ducts & foot ducts
vent - a/c on compressor off, heater valve open, air coming out upper ducts
htr - a/c compressor off, heater valve open, air coming out foot ducts with a small bleed of air coming out the defroster vent
de-ice-a/c compressor off, heater valve open, air coming out the defroster vent

in your picture you have the correct for switching the a/c compressor on/off.
the contacts shown in the first picture should open whenever the selector wheel is not in max or normal or bi-level positions.

MAX and NORMAL A/C functions are the same except there is no outside air coming in on the MAX function...it is an interior recirculation set up only.

If your compressor doesn't cut-out when you go to VENT position, one of the switches on the side of the control head is not working as expected. One of the switches is a little 'tricky' on its adjustment, and you need to see that it "breaks" its electrical contact connection when the head is moved to VENT.

Good luck on your diagnosis and switch adjustment. (P.S. You may need to physically bend the contact arm on that switch [slightly] to make it function correctly.)

Default I figured it out!

Thanks for the reply on the AC control.

With respect to the compressor not switching off. My thoughts were correct. Actually, it was my friends common sense! I'm missing the black Z-shaped plastic that connects to the switch. As you move the control wheel, the wheel plastic lever contacts the Z-shaped plastic from the bottom and lifts the switch tip upwards, this function will turn the compressor off. See the link below for the Z-shaped plastic, this is what I'm missing!
