Hot engine bubbled paint?

I recently purchase a thin insulating product called "Lava Mat". It works great, AND it is a dark carbon fiber in color as opposed to the foil look. I'll warn that it IS expensive, but... here is the webpage:

What size did you buy and did you have to cut to make it fit?
Mark at Pace Performance suggested the 4x5 foot piece but said it would be a PITA to install in one piece. He also gave a better price than the Canadian distributor but I will get taxes and duty at the border.

I've seen a couple of cases where a polished air cleaner cover will reflect onto the underside of the hood while open at a car show... The concentrated sunlight / heat will cause a bubble in some cases ...
