Default Side pipe mufflers

I know this has been debated in the past, but hoping to get recent info. Finally have my Hooker headers and sidepipes installed on my 406 small block, way too loud with no mufflers, the used glass pack style mufflers I have installed are way too restrictive, basically routing 4 1 7/8 primary pipes into one 1 7/8 pipe in the glass pack.
What are you guys running?
Thanks, Steve

STS baffles. Only way to fly. Sound great at WOT and can listen to the radio, top down, at cruise.

Same as Steve: STS (Turbo Spirals). Fantastic sound and performance (I'm running a 407 dyno'ed at 496 hp). I even drilled the caps open 1/2" to get a little more music out of them:

Agreed. Don't even bother with the glasspacks. You can listen to the radio though?- I must need a more powerful stereo ;

I have them on my '81 with mild rebuild. They make a nice roar at WOT. Crusing is fine....able to talk and hear the radio with windows down....just not a WOT.
I tried no inserts, but that was way too loud. These are fine for my ears and engine.

I have the sweet thunder 2 1/2 inserts and the noise is unbearable on the highway. I would not recomend them.

I ordered the hooker max flows from summit today for $165. Will give feed back when I get them installed.
Thanks for all the advise.

I'm running the largest size (2 1/2 inch?) max flow mufflers from hooker, and they definitely flow better than the old hooker reverse flow mufflers. For the price, I personally couldn't justify the STS units.

I've been very happy with the max flow units.
