Default Window rattle

I am rebuilding a 1968 coupe and the glass in drivers side door rattles. I looked at my AIM but did not see any type of anti-rattle bumper. Did I miss it?

I don't believe that 68s used them. They were first used in 69 and continued to be used through 1996.

I't been a long time since I've owned a '68, but I thought they had the little felt-padded anti-rattle bumpers on them, also. If you have them, they will be located on the inside of each window at the front and at the back ends of each window. The bumpers are mounted to the top of the inside door frame with a hex-head bolt.

I have become used to all kind of sounds when driving my vette..so another noise in the list is no problem for me LOL..next time I address this i will put loctite thread locker so it stay tight....

Hi,
Is it possible that the lower track stops are set too low and are letting the glass drop below the 'whiskers' on the outer seal and interior trim panel? This might contribute to the rattle.
Regards,
Alan

The Corvette parts book lists them as 69-82, not for 68. Like so much else on 68s, the inner and outer wipes, along with the steel door frame, are unique to 68. I don't think the doors have provision for mounting the anti-ratle cushions. Also, the door glass and much of the window tracks, were different for 68s. 68s (and some 69s) had door glass with 8 mount holes in it, while the 69-82 glass had 5 holes.

The problem with the glass rattling could be caused by worn out nylon rollers on your tracks and regulators. With age, they get sloppy and allow the door glass to have access play.

I bought a set for my 68 and they don't fit anywhere. The anti rattle pads were another "improvement" they made in 69.I think the 68 just used the door, and panel whiskers as the anti rattle. If the door panels are old, they might warp away from the door a bit and leave a gap that lets the window rattle.
