Finally getting to installing my console but an object has me stumped. The little metal bracket in my hand clearly houses the environmental control plate so that it sits in the metal shift bezel correctly. Anybody had to fight with this thing to go back in the car and fit properly in the shift housing??? My original shift housing was toasted and has been tossed out so I can't really take a look at it for a hint. My new shift housing is from Corvette America. Thoughts???
Hi Mar,
This is the only picture I have of the console and controller. I don't know if it helps you.
The tricky part is getting everything hooked to the controller and to the 2 vent levers. You sort of have to get it loosely in place and then start to hook things up. The more you connect the less you can move it so you need to plan ahead to some degree.
Do you have the proper AIM for your car. I wouldn't touch the controller and levers without the AIM turned to the right page.
Regards,
Alan
When I removed mine I had to disconnect the vent cables from underneath the console I got at it thru the opening left after removing the side panels just forward of the console.I have to install mine to after putting in a vintage air kit. That was six weeks or so ago.I only took me about 30 min to remove it so I figure on an hour to put it back in.If you want I will email you how it went back in.I also have the assy manual to for a guide.I keep one in the garage and in the house for a quick reference.
I finally got it in, now the master controller seems to sit a little lower in the bottom area than the top area. Scratching my head on how to fix that. Might be able to shim it. I DID not disconnect my master control panel control cable and I think that is where I messed up. Not disconnecting it caused it to be pretty rigid in relationship to the housing and top bezel.
BTW: it is impossible to reconnect the two nuts on the small studs that extend below the small gage panel!
What a pain
