Bee Jay, I thought of you when this came up, wondering how long it would take you to get here.

Note that Summit apparently has all '68-82 C3 SpeedGlass lumped together, so I'd make sure they understand your application is strictly for '78-82. FYI, Percy's #'s for the late C3 fastback rear windows are #01246- with 1,2,3, or 4 suffix for .093", 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4", respectively, but you'll need to check if that's a drop-in fit or 1" oversized (in all directions) which will require fitting. Also, ask if that's blacked-out OE style or clear to the edge.

As far as installing, it appears you can use adhesives and even re-install the OE trim, but fastening per any applicable rules will be necessary for sanctioned racing. Of course, the thinner windshields will require straps/braces, but only the sides and rear are DOT legal.

IMHO the more I look into this the more I'm liking it for my purposes. Hope the little bit of homework I've done on it is helpful.

Ferraris have glass windshields just like every other production street car.

Lexan is not going to save any money over the long run. Just get the glass and be done with it.

Hopefully you can find something that installs with a stock appearance (for the sleeper look ). Once you start putting stuff in race car style (ie: riveting), the car starts looking like a race car (and then you better be the fastest thing out there or ya look silly).

Let us know if you find a good lightweight window.
