Default Intake manifold question...

Hello, I replaced my intake manifold with an edelbrock 21011. After I got everything back on and tried to time it.... it started leaking anti-freeze on the rear china wall(passengers side) so my question is.... are there gaskets that go ON the front and rear china wall or does that just get black silicone? Thank you

The china wall gaskets will not leak anti freeze. I would retorque the intake bolts starting at the center of the intake manifold and work around in a circular pattern. The rear of the intake gasket is the seal for the anti freeze. You can use the rubber or cork seals or silicone on the china wall. mike...

Stock gaskets on china walls were cork for early engines and rubber for later engines. I do not remember the change over year. The rubber seal engines had holes in the top of the china wall that located the seals. Cork seal engines did not have holes in the walls. Many people use silicone or GM engine sealant in place of seals. mike....

There is a front and rear gasket... but a lot of us just use bead of silicone... but that is not your problem... if you are leaking there you are leaking at your manifold to head port and now have antifreeze and water in your oil... most likely... you will probably have to drain the oil, pull the intake and buy new gaskets and do it over again...

every good jobe needs to be done at least twice on a C3
