You can see the vestiges of 3 70 R below the *** (Glass) on the sticker in all three pics.

107 for a job number.

The NCRS might be able to help with the original dealer. http://www.ncrs.org/

Congrats on finding the sticker and having most of it legible.

Hi Flavio,
Most of the dealers in Zone 30 are located in Texas, with a couple in Alabama, and Kentucky.
I get nothing for dealer 769.

Alan

If Lew Williams Chevrolet, they sold corvettes to a lot of US Naval Aviators in the late 60''s early 70's that were stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. I think the dealership may be closed now. The dealership was a local landmark at a major intersection and well known--should be photos available if googled.

Hi Flavio,
Option information was compiled and published by GM so the numbers and percentages are good
GM didn't, however, publish any information on option lists for individual cars; so it's only an informed guess on the rarity of a option combination on a particular car. AND, was that COMBINATION desirable?
The example often mentioned is when 3 speed transmissions were still standard. Very RARE, but not desirable to most people now.
Regards,
Alan

No it's not accurate- it is a perfect example of demonstrating that any and all Corvettes appear to be 1 of 1 by using faulty statistical methods.

Do this exercise- delete all options. It will show that 4,781 Corvettes were built exactly that way. I've never see a zero option Corvette in real life. Where did they all go?

Default More info on Succession

James Gainan has owned Gainans Chevrolet since 1975. The previous owners were William Holden (Gulf Coast Chevrolet, 1934-1959) and Lew Williams (1959-1975).

The facility was remodeled on the original site in 1968. James Gainan was the general manager for Lew Williams until he bought the dealership in 1975.

Since 1975 Gainans Chevrolet of Corpus Christi, Texas, has become one of the largest dealerships and is the only Chevrolet dealer in Corpus Christi. The Gainans feel that they have utilized their present facilities to its maximum potential.

LATER

Bradfords, owned by twin brothers James and Jack Bradford, had been a staple in the community since 1987, when the two brothers purchased it from the Corpus Christi Gainan family.

The former Village Park Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Inc. at 2250 E. Main St. in Alice became Bradford's Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Inc. It later was renamed Bradfords Motor Cars.

Vence Lonestar Motors has 52 employees, all of whom worked for the Bradfords.

Sorry. You cannot extrapolate percentages that way. As you have discovered, you eventually reach zero or one of one.

Mike: I have seen exactly one no option car. A yellow '68 coupe. Once I realized what I was looking at, I fell in love with the car.

Default Received date.

Sorry to hijack old post, but can anyone explain how the numbers break down on a "Received date" of 8/08/12, for a car build date code of B-28 (Sept. 28, 1968)?

My tank sticker appears to have a received date of 8/12/20 (I am guessing a little), with a trim tag build date of F03 (Jan. 3, 1969).

I just can't figure out how these numbers are deciphered. Is the first number the year, then the month, then the date?

Thanks, Ralph

It's bad taste to hijack a thread...but hijacking a two year old one is rather odd. Best to just start a new thread with your questions.

I was doing a search and this one came up with the same issue, and good photo of tank sticker.

Sorry to offend anyone.

Y/MM/DD In your example, St. Louis received the order for your car on December 20, 1968 (8/12/20), but you're cheating a bit. My hunch is that the order for a car assembled on 1/3/69 was received three or four weeks earlier than December 20, 1968. Don't quote me on that since stranger things have happened, but finishing a car two weeks after the order was recceived would be a super human effort.

Thanks Mike. I agree it appears a little fast. But my tranny is dated Dec. 16, differential is Dec. 17, and build date of Jan. 3, means they were really humping the week before Christmas, 1968.

But, like you say, stranger things have happened.
