I'm in the process of rebuilding my doors , new window glass ,new regulator and window rollors. Has any body used Ecklers Solid Stainless Steel regulators? I'm not talking about the gears , I mean the whole regulator. I would think SS would be better than metal, so I went with the SS one.
Also ,during assy do you lube the window channels themselves or just the rollors? The problem I have ( I think ) is 25 years ago I lubed the channels which stopped the rollors from grabbing and rolling like they are designed to do and all of my rollors have flat spots from not being able to roll because the chanels were to slick.
Hi DP,
The AIM indicates the tracks were lubricated too.
I used white lithium grease.
I'd think your flat sided rollers were caused by the rollers freezing to their shaft, not by sliding on the track.

Alan
Thanks Alan, that's kind of what I was thinking also. I didn't think that I was going to replace all that I did when I took the window apart to replace the motor gear,a $25.00 project is turning into a $950.00 a door cost. But it will be well worth it with no more head aches from my doors for the next 25 years, lets see that will put me at 90 years old , by then this car will be the least of my problems.
Thanks again, Dario

Yes Sir; I bought a new set of OEM GM Regulators & Motors a few years back, just in case my 57K mile garage car ones wear out. I'm hoping that they are still on the shelf, when they pull the steering wheel from my hands, which I hope will be a long time. Lot of Laughs. I always have trouble with the Jesus clips, inside the doors of cars. Good Luck with your project. Have a great one. Gene

Let us know how they work out for you. I looked at them a while back but I figured at such a low price they were chinese and I didn't want to take the risk. Instead went with a used set from ebay (I'm converting from manual to power windows).
ZWEDE,
Well I got one door completely in and the new regulator seems to be built pretty good, It's not SS ,it's steel with a zink coat ( but looks stainless ) the gear is SS ,that's all the really counts to me. As I said it seems to be a good built regulator, anything was better then what I had and for $300 a set they're not bad, got the 15% discount from Ecklers. They come with a new bushing ,anti rattle bushing between the swing arms, rollors and a new spring.
Also I checked on window motors, Advance auto and Autozone have them rebuilt for $125,a set ( left & right ) life time replacement. They also have the new motor gears for $26.00 each also life time replacement how can you go wrong with that? Ecklers sells them for
$ 36.00 each and thay are a one shot deal.
Glass I got from a local glass dealer for $115 each and they're tinted also ,not a bad price.
