I recently bought a Jeep YJ with a small block chevy that the installer claims is a 350 'crate motor'. I need to find out at least what was the starting point.
There are 2 numbers on the pad at the right front - 100150981 and VO218CNV. On the left rear of the block above the filter and in front of the bell housing is 3970010.
The mark cast on the front of the heads looks like a pair of upside down Vs - not rounded like a double hump but pointed.
I assume that's a 2 bolt main block.
The motor seems to have a very mild build. The Jeep store that did it for the previous owner put on an Edelbrock intake and an edelbrock 1403 (500 CFM). Seller said 285 horsepower, the Jeep shop that put in the Jeep said 300. He said it came from a local rebuilder but doesn't know tha cam specs or anything about the heads.
It runs well but nothing exciting. I'm trying to decide if the basic engine is worth doing a cam and heads or to just put in a new ZZ4
