My power steering hoses are worn out and the power steering control valve is worn out and seems to have a fair bit of play. I definitely need the new hoses but was debating how to go about the control valve. Should I get a new power steering control valve for over $200? should I get a rebuilt one? Would the valve stud rebuild kit take care of the play? I am thinking of getting the power steering rebuild kit from ecklers http://www.ecklers.com/corvette-powe...1980-1982.html anyone bought this and used it before? any experiences?

Rebuild it, I did the control valve on mine in about an hour.
zwede, I did not test it with the engine on, only with the engine off, but as turning the wheel under the car the most play was at the control valve.
81pilot, you did the valve seal rebuild kit or the valve stud rebuild kit? IS everything in the valve seal kit included in the valve stud kit plus a little more?

I did not do the ball stud, but it really is the easier part. And yes a complete kit has everything, and the valve seal kit has just the seals and O rings for the valve itself. But either way not a hard job since it can be done with the drivers side wheel off the ground sitting beside it. Just take it apart and set things aside exactly the way the come out, then swap the new parts and reassemble.
