I sent my carburetor off and had it professionally rebuilt. have it back on the car. could some one tell me how to set up the choke so that it will work. I have the 1971 chassis service manual. but I still cant figure it out. does some one have a simple way to explained how to set up the choke correctly? thanks
If the carb is configured correctly for your year, I can't fathom a simpler procedure than what is listed in the Service Manual. I'm not sure how you could say it any differently.....
Hi LS,
I agree with 7T1.
If you have the correct choke coil, cover, and linkage rod/clip; there's really only one way to hook it all up.
Here's a picture from my sb but mabe it will help.

Alan
I have it on like that, I guess I mean is how to adjust it.
With the engine cold, the choke plate should snap shut as soon as the throttle is depressed. Once started, the plate will be open between 1/16" and 1/8" (can't remember exactly for your year) and gradually open itself up as the engine warms until it is vertical.
If it's not operating as described above, then it's either misassembled or stuck. There is a minor adjustment possible by bending the interconnecting rod on some years but this is usually unnecessary.
