Folks,
I have a 69 coupe BB, 4 speed car. I am having problems with the wiper door closing before the wipers are fully parked. I have to manually (using the **** under steering wheel) open and close the wiper door so it won't close on the wiper arms when I turn them off. The come on just fine. I did notice a air connection point with 3 vacuum hoses (2 of which are connected and one is missing) under the door to the right of the passangers wiper arm. I'm trying to understand how the timing of the wiper door works as related to the wiper parking.
I think (thru reading other posts, etc) that I need a new wiper interlock (or parking) valve. I ordered one from CC for $25 plus shipping. Looking at Dr Rebuilds pic, the black hose coming from this valve just enters the firewall and remains open right?
You got it. The one hose just vents thru the firewall grommet with the red and white stripe hoses. You may have to slot the mounting holes in that valve base to allow for adjustment. When the wipers are fully parked against the stop at the base of the windshield, the valve should be fully actuated.
The door closes as a result of the wiper arm contacting the vacuum control. The vacuum control is slotted, so, it sounds like you need to mark the position of the valve, loosen the two bolts holding the valve, squirt some WD 40 on the bolts, and slide it down some. Try about 1/4", to start. When the wiper motor is in the park cycle, the only way you can get the motor to stop, is to disconnect the battery, if the arm catches on the closing door.

Thanks folks. I see from looking at the new valve, that the valve installed is missing the part that the passanger wiper contacts to allow the wiper door to close.
I've ordered a new valve and will also replace some hoses while I'm at it.
That interlock valve MAY be the cause of your problem. BUT, if the (3) hoses on that valve are not installed in the proper position, that can cause the same symptoms, even if the valve/switch is good! One of the three hoses is just a vent hose and runs just into the engine compartment and is severed, going to open air. That is how it is supposed to be. But, all three hoses need to be on the proper nipples. If you need to know 'which is which', ask on a further post. (I'd tell you now...but I'd have to drop the car on the lift and look!.)

Thanks much.
Hi.
Willcox has a great "repair and installation" section. Check it out
Folks.. I have the vacuum switch (or valve) that goes under the pass side wiper and controls the timing of when the wiper door closes. Now, what is the best way to replace it? Looks like there are 2 small bolts holding it on, but hard to get to. Do I remove the cowl or use a swivel socket and long extension? I hope I don't have to remove the wiper door??
HI, I believe you can just remove the Grill panel just forward of the Wiper Door. It has Eight screws holding it in place. The valve is just below the grill section. Did you read the Willcox repair section from the links above? They will help quite a bit.
Update.. Well, removing the cowl (easy...) worked fine. Once the vacuum switch was replaced, the wiper to wiper door timing worked perfect! I even replaced the wiper blades!
Thanks to all for the help!
I know you folks like pics, so here are a few since it's our first nice sunny day in a while... Enjoy!
