I need to remove the upper and lower exterior windshield trim. Watched a pal do it and he now needs new windshield, upper an lower trim. Does anyone have any pics, docs or video on how to remove the upper and lower windshield trim for C3 (1975) Corvette. Will buy the tool but have no idea how use it. (New to this.) Any help is greatly appreciated.
I don't have a video on this or pics.. I can snap some pics if needed. But this job is relatively easy.
The first thing you should do is remove the pillar post weatherstrip and then the retainer and windshield molding.
The trick to using the tool is to make sure you get it hooked under the clip and then rock it forward. If you start at one end and take your time you'll get them to release one at a time. If you get in a hurry, you'll dent up your molding with the tool. The tool is not made to be a pry off tool and this seems to be the problem when people use it. We have a bunch of old moldings here with tiny outward dings in them from this tool.
I did this picture a long time ago trying to help someone.
Hi Rod,
Getting the ss trim off and back on is pretty involved since it's not only the trim, but also the a-pillar weatherstrips.
I really think buying the 75 Assembly Instruction Manual will make the job easier and be worth the cost.
It'll help you understand the sequence and also the fasteners used.
Good Luck!

Alan
