Default Header Installation

For those who recently purchased Custom Image Corvettes sidepipes, you may need to check header bolt hole access and accessibility prior to installing. The header fit into my engine bay ('72) was great but I had problems with the bolts. I couldn't use bolts requiring a closed end wrench (even ground down). Priot to installing the pipes I purchased the new split-end header bolts - requiring a closed end 12 pt wrench but access to the bolt head was impossible. So $50 down the drain. I installed hex cap end bolts with a home-made hex wrench to fit into the tight spacing for torqueing. One bolt hole was completely blocked by the pipe bend (#1 cyl) so I had to use a stud with a standard nut. This required an open end wrench. Four other bolts had to be installed by inserting the bolts into the header, then easing the header up to the head while alternately finger tightening the bolts.
The pipes are on, they look good and sound good, but were a pain to install.
