I just adjusted the timing in my '71 lt-1 and the car is hesitating when i step on the gas and i stalled a couple of times at low rpm. i had set it at 36 degrees at about 2500 RPM...which is about at the point where it is "all in" which is where i thought it ought to be. any advice on how i can get it to run better?
You had vacuum advance disconnected right? You're probably pretty close on the total setting a(no vacuum)....but when done what did the initial at idle timing end up being.
Best response usually comes from increased initial timing and then limiting the total. Like instead of 4*-8* of initial...you end up with 16-18* (or more) initial and then limit the total to only have the same 36-38* total.
yes i had vacuum advance disconnected. I tried increasing to about 38* and it was no better. turns out my fuel/air mixture was way off. i increased the amount of fuel going to the carb and it fixed the hesitation problem. thanks!
