I am about to loose my mind I cant get the two screws on the bottom of the gauge cluster that hook on to the center console any input would be helpful thanks
Are they screws or nuts on the studs at the bottom of Gauge cluster? My 72 has 2 nuts that attach cluster to center console, for me i removed the face plate and heater control panel to access. Took a nut driver, broke off the handle, it was just the right length to loosen the nuts. Hope this helps.....good luck.
I need to get them on ,,the cars a 70 and they are nuts nut screws thanks ..I think I might be able to loosen the whole cluster and then attach it to the bottom
Take the little side covers off the front ends of the tranny tunnel. You may have to use a flex-driver (like used to adjust carb idle jets) with a 7/16" socket on the end to get them started. Then use a small 1/4" drive ratchet to tighten them--not too much...just snug.
I think some tranny tunnels are made with slots in that front tunnel brace, so that you can just start the nuts, then slide the tunnel in place [and over those nuts], then snug them down.
I cant get them I have tryed for hours I am just gunna leave them off I have a manual a chiltons and a chevy book and it wont tell you how its done ,, I am gonna advertise on craiglist for a midget with tiny fingers

I went to the local hardware and bought 2 nuts each about 1" long. I don't know what they are supposed to be used for but the extra length let me start them on the posts, slide then into the slots on the console and finish tightening them with an open end wrench. This has to be one of those things they pre-assembled at the factory and installed as a single unit.
Raphiki, thoses nuts are called coupling nuts, I used these when I did some repair work on my console. I didn't have any problems putting the nuts back on and the extra length lets you get a wrench in there with no problem........... or at least I didn't have any trouble getting them on.

Be careful when ordering a midget with tiny fingers........... You don't want any misunderstandings.........
