I just got done installing the full carpet set I got from them, everything was cut too large. There wasn't a single piece I didn't HAVE to trim on at least one side. I understand they try to give you a little extra so there are no bare spots, but this was a little extreme in my opinion. Also, only 2 of the holes they cut for bolts and such actually lined up forcing me the cut new ones. A great deal of cutting was involved with this set, I could have bought generic carpet and cut my own for the same effort and less money. I have had good experience with zip before, but I would advise against buying carpet from them.
You have to realize that they get their carpet from Auto Custom Carpet. that is where I got mine and I had to trim every piece too. I'd rather have it that way than get a kit with not enough. Just my .02
I'm going to be replacing my in the next couple months... anyone else have this kind of experience? It doesn't sound too bad... I'd rather have more than less :yesnod:
Has anyone had a 'perfect fit' from another company?
smonska, does the carpet set come with the rigid boards on the sides of the console?

Plus if you bought carpet from an upholstry shop you would have received a much better quality product
Just remember, all vendors get their carpet from Auto Custom Carpet (ACC). The only other way to do it, is to get carpet from an uphostery shop and cut the whole thing yourself

I suspect this is right. I just replaced my carpet with ZIP's. I too had to cut it but it wasn't that bad. I was a little disappointed in the quality though!
I bought the same carpet (cut pile) and was very pleased with it I had a Hook carpet knife that trimed it very easly.
I also priced out carpet from my upholstry shop and it would have been more than double in price plus he did not know if he could get it to fit over all the humps, dips and bumps as well as stock.
And over a year later it still looks new.
Just about done with my carpet, purchased from Al Knoch . I don't know if Auto Custom Carpet supplys Al Knoch but the fit was super. Very little cutting and everthing lined up great.
Re: installing carpet from zip corvette (TerryN68)
Try Al Knoch's carpet. He's the "originator" in Corvette restoration interiors. In my experience, just about all the carpet I've installed are cut a bit "big" and require SOME trimming. I'd rather have to trim than be short. Chuck
I just installed mine that I got from Ecklers. I think it is ACC. The only cutting I had to do was for the seat track holes and the seat belt holes. Everything else fit great.

I am in the process of installing an Auto Custom Carpet (ACC) set. Purchased from some selling it on e-bay. I had to do very little trimming. what I did was not hard to do.
It did not come with the boards for the console. Just the carpet for them. I am headed to Lowes to get something now. Probably 1/8" masonite. That looks like what was in it.........don't know if it was original.
