Ok Im great will tools do all me own re-pair have had my whole rear-end out last year My question anybody ever install a shift kit NEVER having done one before???? Thanks in advance. Got the Vette Out of storage pumped six times fired right up. ah yea great sound.
I did a Trans-Go TH400 kit year's ago when a kid and no big deal. Mine was a recent rebuild out of the car, so even better. Compared to a 700R4, a cake walk.
did mine a few years ago, first time. messy endeavor. the transgo instructions back then were pretty generic so make sure you have all of the parts that the instructions call for. mine had me drilling out the post for the 2-3 shift and that ended up not being needed. Just pay close attention to all the little ball bearings and their placement. also make sure that the mating surfaces on the transmission and pan are spotless when you go to put it all back together.

Shift kit won't help you with burning tires or even jumping off the line. The big difference is how hard it grabs the next gear. Take my advice and go with the tow set up if you have a stock engine. It will still chirp the tires grabbing 2nd gear at WOT but it won't do it cruising around town. The race or strip really bangs the gear hard....like rattle your fillings hard!
Follow the directions work for word and use a lot of grease to hold the check ***** in place

Actually I stand corrected, as the TH400 kit I did year's ago was a B&M, but did firm up the shift's quite nicely and was an easy install. Later did Transgo's on TH350's and 700R4's, with the latter being an all day job. I really wouln't run a perfomance auto without one of these, and the Transgo's only shift hard when getting on the gas. Keep in mind when doing this, you'll get the gear you select any speed. If doing 120 and accidently bump the lever to first, that's what you're getting, like right now.
I would buy a few things not mentioned..one would be some petroleum jelly..you wont need much so if you have a little laying around is all you need..use it to hold the check ***** in place ..tons of brake clean...can never use to much when doing this..clean non shedding rags ..preferably the rags in a box..paper but don't come apart..cleanliness is godliness when it comes to trans internals..when you get into doing the springs in the valve body clean it first with a can of bake clean then lay it on the bench just like the directions picture is..make sure the picture is not backwards..mirror image..then do one I mean one valve at a time..make sure the valve is not reversed after you take it out..spray it with brake clean and put the new spring in there with the retainer..you may need some way to remove the roll pins..some good kits come with a 90' bent tool with a point on the end..that's what its for..my prof in school used to say keep your ducks in a row..not that hard but you can't do it close..it must be perfect ..one other tool is an inch pound torque wrench..you must use one of these to insure the valve body is not over torqued and bind the valves..

A BIG thanks Yep its the little things I have red rags but will buy the white and brake cleaner and the torque wrench Im gonna have to find one of those (Rent).Really something I need to buy but not yet.
I got one of those torque wrenches off the white truck..costed about 300$..rent or borrow one if you can..you probably will only use it for this one job..then its dust time!..
I put transpak in my 77 th350 L-48 last Dec. Was not bad at all. I did download the instructions from youtube and thier site. Watched it three or four times before actually doing it. Made it easier knowing what to expect. Seeing it and reading it are two different things. I put my car up on four 6 ton jack stands, and even had two jacks still under the car for support.(i'm kinda affraid being under all that metal)LOL. I also made sure the car was WAY UP on the stands. The more room you have the better! ALSO- while the pan is off, go to NAPA and get a drain plug for the pan. It's only 5 bucks, and will make your next tranny fluid change MUCH easier.
Thanks for the Pics my first corvette was a 77 I liked it so much I bought a 75.I also went to you tube and watched the videos I think I can I think I can. doing it this weekend if it stays warm.
