Actually the only kit I have ever seen just sold on eBay, can't remember what it sold for but if I had the cash I would have bid on it. It was an old kit that had been buried in the basement or something like that. I don't know of anyone that makes the parts now. I was talking to some 82CE guys at the museum and it seems they have to check the junkyards for some parts. Maybe some of the 82CE guys will chime in.
There was a company I knew of that made aftermarket hatchback kits for the 78-82 Corvettes, but the company did not make it, and it folded. I have seen the kits selling brand new off of E-bay. So that leads me to think somebody bought the remaining stock and it selling it off one at a time.
I have not seen it for a month or so, but that's not saying he has no more to sell.
I have never seen the kit that you people are referring to, I would like to see one, to see if the parts are interchangable, my hinges are getting stretched...
If you can find the rear hatch glass for less than $2500.00 buy it.
Its a steal at that price :mad :mad :mad
I've only seen this repo-kit once on e-bay and someone else was selling just the glass last month on e-bay for a ton of money (don't know if it sold). The only way to get all the parts you need is to luck out and find a salvage yard parting out a CE. Spring Carlisle is also a great place to locate hard to find parts. Honestly though I think your looking at mission impossible, but that's part of the fun. ;)
you guys make me glad that 75's have the flat rear window, we dont have half the heat in the summer, the glass can be as cheap as a piece of plexi glass and a cutting bit. Well okay thats enough salt in the wounds for one day :jester
There is a salvage yard in Louisianna that deals with Corvettes. He usually only deals with 84-up, but I have found he has select parts for C3's. He is also rebuilding, I believe 4 82CE's, and might know where you could get parts for the Hatchbacks.
Here is the e-bay link. The bid went to $1025.00 but the reserve was not met so it didn't sell. It had a "Buy it Now" of $1995.00. There are additional pictures on e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eb...622269&r=0&t=0
