Default Heater control light intensity

I have diassembled my 68 heater control (no A/C), sandblasted all parts with glass beads, changed lens etc. When putting all back together today I tested the light by plugging in the lamp socket. How bright is the face actuall intended to be? If absolutely dark I can probably say that the letters are visible with quite low intensity. Reason for me asking is that I'm a bit concerned wheter or not I ruined the surface inside the lamp holder casting and the metal parts inside. Did they use some kind of reflective coating that I might have blasted away making my surface absorbing the light? Or was it simply that low intensity from factory...

Hi Martin,
The light is VERY faint during the day. Have you looked in the dark to see what it's like?
It should be easy to read at night, but you usually can't see any light during the day.
Regards,
Alan

Alan,

In total darkness and with a fresh new bulb the letters are visible, but still not very bright. But I guess that's how it's expected to be. It a very simple arrangement and only a small fraction of the bulb light reaches the narrow slot where the lens is picking up.

If total darkness - does the letters show up very distinctly? Or is it fairly low intenstity?

Thanks.

Is your headlight switch set all the way up? Normally you turn the HL **** to adjust the dash and acc. intensity. Does it adjust gradually, if not, possibly the HL is bad. You may also want to check voltage at the bulb, and check the ground. Good luck and lets us know how it goes.
