Never was a big fan of having the bumper right up against the paint when bolting the bumpers on. Has anyone tried a rubber or any other type of washer between the bumper and the paint. I just thought a little insulator between the two would be a good idea.
When I put my rear bumpers on after the paint job I cut slots in sections of gas hose then pushed them over the bumper corners so it didnt put any scratches on the paint. You may have to run tape around the bumper the secure them to stay on. I used that new blue masking tape because it doesnt stick as well! I still havent done the front bumper yet but will do the same thing there as well.

Hi G,
Some people I know have used large, very thin, opaque, nylon washers from the hardware store. They come in a interesting variety of sizes.
The washers work very well where the face of the bracket welded to the bumper is up against the paint.

Alan

I used black peal and stick foam similar to soft foam used for sealing truck canopy to truckbed. 1/8" thick.
It looks just like all the foam used to seal around radiator, core support and shroud.
I cut it small enough and compressed enough that it doesn't show.
