Not that it is needed here in Florida, just want it to be right! A/C not connected. When you turn it on, starts at the high setting and progresses to low, seems backwards! I've always thought it went low to high, especially considering the lens show high to be to the far right.
I took it apart thinking maybe the connections were switched, wrong, can't do that with the two plug configurations. Anyone else run into this?
I've looked at wiring diagrams I have (Doc Rebuild), and from what I see everything appears to be connected correctly. HELP!!!!
Thought about that too, so I took it out and reinstalled. All that did was move off to the far right and high to far left. Just got switch from Ecklers, PN 3942657, numbers on part match catalog and box. That P/N also matches the one I took out of the car. The saga continues.

Well, another 'off the wall' thought is that the switch components are correct...but the switch body and the electrical bottom plate were assembled incorrectly [reversed] at the manufacturer. I don't know if the components are symetrical and could allow that to happen...or, if it were built wrong that your symptoms would result. But, that's the only other idea that might 'fit' your problem.
I got the same operation on my 76. Do not know if the switch is original or not. Always seemed backwards to me. Have not had time to check into. I thought maybe I installed the plug backwards last time I had the console out. But maybe not. on the fix or maybe it is supposed to be this way?
Thought about that too. Have an electrician at work and seeing that both switches (new and old) both work going to take one apart and see if can assemble opposite. Will let you know.
