There was a thread regarding just this question last month. it went on for a couple pages. You may want to search for the thread. It got involved before it ended.
In it was one or more of the companies you listed.
You get what you pay for with a crate engine.
Fast, Durable, Cheap. Pick two.
1. I would look for internally balanced first.
2. Quality heads are a must. If they use Procomp heads walk away.
3. Roller cam is what I would go with, A factory roller block build is not much more and worth the $.
4. Hyperuectic pistons are not what you want in any performance build. Look for low expansion forged. Mahle, Speed Pro.
5. Forged bottom end will cost more but you get what you pay for.
CNC Motorsports, Ultrastreet.
From: GA "When I grow up, I'm gonna get a Trans Am and run from the cops". Direct quote from my 4yo son.
Wheeler power products out of Jacksonville Fl. builds a nice engine. They will build it however you want. You can go on the cheaper side, or go with higher end components. Like above, you get what you pay for. I have two of their engines
Try to read through the advertising. Look into the parts used. If the parts origin isn't listed, ask before you buy.
In this day and age, a google search can help with the evaluation of about any part and some builders. Again, look through the sales pitch. There is normally a difference in the quality in a cheaper part and an expensive one. The biggest question is how good does a part have to be to fill your requirements or will work for you and not bust your bank roll. Get the best parts you can a ford.
Bottom line, price should not be the only thing that makes your decision for you. If bought locally, you have a source to contact for assistance or to go after if there is a problem. An engine shipped, that has an issue, must be handled by phone or e-mail.
Shipped crate engines are built by sombody. There is no reason to believe that they are any more or less skilled than a local builder.
Find out who your local recers go to for machine work. Start there looking for an engine builder. Volume of builds is not always an indicator af skills either.
Just my opinion!!!
I do not know how they measure up to the others but I am happy with them.

same here. I recently bought a zz4 crate from Pace , and am happy with it so far. It has a roller cam, aluminum heads and a GMPP 2 year parts & labor warranty.
