Default Moog parts

Ordered a set of Moog ball joints, tie rod ends, and idler arm. All made in the USA The parts are all pre-greased with a black grease, does anyone know what type Moog uses before shipping their parts out the door so I can use the same type? Any other I should be using instead?

I've never been able to wear out a Moog ball joint or tie rod end. As long as you grease it with a good chassis grease they'll last forever.

If it's black it's probably the moly grease. Easy to find.

Moog is now owned by Federal Mogul. I wonder if they have either a) moved some of their manufacturing oversee or b) license their name to another manufactuer? I thought I read that some of these companies are in fact licensing their name but can't say for certain.

Good Luck with that, almost everything comes from China . And if it was truley made in North America we would cry about the price !

actually I believe 'Tennico is the company that owns 'Moog....FM went belly-up several years ago ....they were in pursuit of auto parts companies when they bought a 'Brake company and 'subject to their debt...a very stupid move.....the case was about asbestos which they lost....the stock went from 40.00 to finally zero.....would you believe Tennico owns Monroe shocks and besides shocks now sells a full line of Brakes which could be either Wagner or Eis brand........

you may find Tennico in small print on parts boxes

Federal Mogul is alive and well (though they are rumored to be for sale). They did enter chapter 11 bankruptcy as you describe but emerged in 2008 and have had some good results as of late. They own and manufacture parts for the Moog brand, but they also contract with other manufacturers (including Tennoco) for some parts to be sold under that brand. Federal Mogul is out of Michigan while Tennoco is based in Lake Forest IL near me.

I had nothing but headaches ordering my Moog parts from Amazon. I sent back at least 3 pieces that were not Moog (just in Moog boxes). Advance sells them here...

Yea Rockauto.com has them at a fair price. They also have other brands at all price points.

I bought my rotors from amazon due to shipping cost but got my other stuff from rockauto.

When I first did a Forum search on the subject of Moog parts and where to buy them, both Rockauto and Amazon came up. Checked Rockauto's site, and for some reason they didn't have all of the part #'s listed that I had entered. So I checked out Amazon....they had what I needed

I have purchase Moog stuff from both Amazon and Rockauto. The only issue I had can be found in this post. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...our-parts.html

Amazon had the correct part number on the box and what I ordered, but it was the wrong piece in the box. I ended up getting a refund and ordering that one part from Rockauto.
