Default Seat hinge cover,,(help)

I wanted to replace a couple of my dinged up hinge seat covers for my 78,so i found a set (4)pcs- one seat on e bay. Aftermarket repros from mid america. I get them and wow...they dont line up at all where they come together, big gap at back side, not uniform like my orginals. Also the grain in the finish surface is a lot deeper.after painted silver you really notice it. My question is: Has anyone else had this problem, and is there better repro covers out there or do i have to find some used orginals. Please help with info. Thanks tom b.

Yours is a very specific question, so there won't be many folks "in the mix" to respond. Keep the thread alive and give it some time. Weekends usually have a lot of "traffic" for the Forum.

I assume your referring to the seat backs???
I replaced my '78's seat backs a couple years ago with pre-painted units from C.Central. Look perfect, fit better than my originals. More durable as well.

Pics of the "gap" your referring to?

Hummmm......In my '78 the seat fabric cover the hinge.
Do you have a pace car? If so the seats are different than what I have.

I'm still confused Tom. Pics of your seats will help.

I'm sure he is talking about the seat hinge covers . They are 2 piece & are held on with little acorn caps.

Default Seat hinge cover.

YES>>76yellow is correct, and I have a 78 pace car so it has the newer 79 seat design with the hinges exposed. these covers fasten over the hinge with acorn nuts for finish . go on to ebay and type in ...corvette seat hinge covers...... to see pictures of them.
Thanks so much for your help. now my orginal question was...see first post.

Clean up your originals and reinstall them. They fit.

Hi TB,
I really can't help specifically, BUT, reproductions that don't fit, or look, or work, like the original part is rampant. This is why trying to save/restore your original part is often the best choice. Interior repro parts seem to be the most problem.
Have you considered trying to repair yours?
You might find some good used covers at a salvage dealer. Try Gale Gee Corvette in Williamsport Pennsylvania. (google)
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
