Rally wheel question
a series of small clips that attach to the lip of the wheel
-or-
dozens of small "fingers" that wedge into the center of the wheel
What trim ring attachment style is correct for a 1969 Corvette with 15x8 rally wheels ... clips or "fingers"?
There are various rings out there.
The rings used in production had 4 clips, located 90 degrees apart, and with one of the clips aligned with the valve stem hole.
Even in the 70s the 'over the counter' rings had the 4 clips but they were turned 45 degrees from the valve stem holes.
After about 72-73 the production rings had a slight change, (a lip was added), to the ring the 4 clips are mounted to. The clip still aligned with the valve stem hole.
The rings with many 'grabbers' are aftermarket rings.
Production and service replacement rings were stainless steel and flash chromed.
Production rings in excellent condition have become quite pricey, because of some people's desire/need to have them for originality.
Some folks are even un-crimping the ss perimeter so the ring holding the clips can be spun to line up with the valve stem hole. Pretty tough to do so it's not noticeable.
Aren't you glad you asked?
Regards,
Alan
I have sets of each. For daily use, I run the multiclips and do not have to worry about possibly dinging them up or losing one. When I want to show off and impress people with my original 4 clips, I put those on.

That's funny. Do you break out the NOS valve stem caps too?
