Default 1976 brake question

I recently had the rear drivers caliper off of my 1976 Corvette in order to do some work to the bearing. Unlike when I remove a caliper from other cars that I have this one seemed to really push the brake pads in. I had to really push them back into place to put the caliper back on. Is this normal on a C3 or do I have a problem with the brakes?

Unclear as to how hard you had to push but if you had a collapsed rubber line that may cause more than normal effort. Usually before removal there is a thin metal tool that you slip between the pistons and the pad that prevents the pistons from extending and makes installation much easier.

Not hard to push the pistons back in. They do seem to push the pad up against the rotor easily. Not sure if it is dragging. The drivers side rear is warm so I am not sure if I did something wrong when I did the rear bearing or if the brakes are a problem.

There are springs behind each piston pushing the pistons out. I have blocks to slide in between the pads when I remove the caliper to keep this from happening. What you experienced is normal.

edit-Here is the thin metal tool that MelWff is referring to,sorta does the same thing the blocks I use do.
