battery light stays on

Default battery light stays on
buddy has 81 vet. turning on key light comes on. after starting light stays on but is dim.

he had the battery and alternator checked out and both were good.

i thinking bad ground but like always I'm generally wrong

Check the choke heater fuse and relay. For some reason GM used that system to feed the alternator exciter circuit.

make sure the alt is rated at least at 63 amps. anything less may cause the light to come on at idle speeds.
