What oil filter do you use...
If I can't get a K&N (sometimes they're hard to find) I use the AC Supergard or whatever it's called, in the long size (PF35?).

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
here is a quote from there on fram and mobil 1 as well...
Fram
Years ago Fram was a quality filter manufacturer. Now their standard filter (the radioactive-orange cans) is one of the worst out there. These filters are manufactured by Allied Signal, Inc. Please do not buy these filters. By boycotting it, we may be able to cause some change. I have personally had one if these filters fail and actually cause engine damage due to bits of paper and glue floating around in the engine.
Mobil 1
Like the Champion, this filter is made by Champion Industries. However, it uses a unique end plate and a thicker can that make it the strongest filter available for wide-distribution retail sale. It also does not use the fragile paper media of the Champion filter. I’m happy to say that this filter is NOT a fake. It is definitely a unique design.
It uses a synthetic fiber element that can filter out very small particles and is much stronger than the fragile, Champion paper media. It is rated just under the Purolator Pure One as far as filtering capability, but is still very much above conventional paper filters. It also has a very strong construction to withstand high-pressure spikes during start-up. Given the choice between the Purolator Pure One and the Mobil 1 filters, I would choose the Mobil 1 because of the restriction concerns of the Pure One and that pesky assembly string. However, as with all Mobil 1 products, expect to pay 2 - 3 times as much for this filter.
most studies that i have read say the same thing...the study includes MANY different brands of filters...
hope this is of some help...gary
Just wondering if anyone had a preference between Napa Gold (WIX) and ACDelco.
Thanks!

I retract my statement below:bb I re-read the filtration study I had at home and I had it al screwed up!
Amsoil has the best filter as far as filtration efficency goes
Then Mobil 1
Then Hastings
Wix fram and Napa are pretty far down the list...
They are well built filters, and even filter pretty well according to a few studies I've seen.
BUT I may switch to Amsoil, once I see their price, since theirs filters even better...
Oh and Wix fitlers are in the top 5 I think...
I also heard that Hastings makes good filters. Anyone if ther'ye still out there or where to get em?

Does everyone know what one is?
Here's the description from Scoggin-Dickey...
This GM Performance Synthetic Oil Filter is a heavy-duty spin-on oil filter that can replace any PF-25 or PF-35 filter on 1968-90 Chevrolet V8 engines. It has a 100% synthetic element that is rated at 12 microns. Its synthetic glass filter media provides finer filtration than conventional cellulose (paper) filters. The individual strands of synthetic glass used in the PF35L are smaller and more consistent in size than cellulose fibers. These glass fibers are supported by a polyester sheet laminated on both sides, and the pleated synthetic filter element is backed by a metal screen. This extremely efficient filter can reduce engine wear by 75% compared to conventional filters without restricting the flow of oil.
Technical Note: PF35L filters can be used in many competition oil systems with remote-mounted filters.
