As part of my restoration process I am cleaning up all my old parts and fixing them up. I used this weekend to rebuild the HEI from my ZZ4 engine and my tach drive distributor from my 71. Here is a link to the pictures on facebook from my distributor rebuilds. I hope this can help someone if they need to see how one goes together.

Great Pix, nice work.
Thx for sharing Sig. U got'm looking brand new. Did u check shaft for play - consider replacing the shaft housing busings? It would be nice to see someone knock in new busing and check clearance.

Having a spare dizzy is a great idea.

I just used a Mr. Gasket shim set to check the play. I shimmed them for .015 based on some online articles I found. The bearings did not seem to be excessive worn so I left them in. My main reasoning for doing this was to have workable spares. Additionally, I was just tired of seeing the cruddy flood damaged pieces sitting on my shelf as well.
My next thread will be an alternator rebuild when I get all the parts ordered.
When you get to the alternator, consider painting the case (once fully disassembled) with VHT hi-temp 'aluminum' paint. It doesn't need the 'hi-temp' capabilities; but that paint is cured by baking it in an oven (toaster oven works great) so that the paint converts to a ceramic material. The case will look like fresh aluminum forever!!

Interesting. I will look into it. Right now I just blasted the case with some glass bead to make it look like new. I had one bolt break off in the case so I am waiting to see if I can get it out before I order the rebuild parts. I actually broke one extractor trying to get it out and am stuck right now.
