You read my mind about the ZL-1 :) Of course I would like just to have any 427 for my '77 but cost restrains me at the moment. I think someone posted about 427s earlier today, and there is just SOMETHING about that engine.
ooh...I'm going to have fun with this...
Aluminum SBC bored and stroked to a 427CID (small block)
Dart Pro-1 aluminum cylinder heads (2.08/1.65)
12.5:1 compression
Billet crank and rods.
Comp Cams XR-274 solid roller cam. with 1.6:1 roller rockers.
Edelbrock multi point fuel injection.
Hooker supercomp headers with my same exhaust.
Desk top dyno gives me 530HP@6500 and 578@3500 ft-lbs.
YYAAA that 708 is craziness.. i saw it on horsepower TV a couple of weeks ago.. i think it was like 850 horsepower stock and with a few mods you can get over 1000 HP.. WOW!
Wait until you see what happens when I put some induction on it! Steve over there at AllStar says he's already experimenting with a supercharger setup. I'm trying to convince him to build me a twin turbo version. Should be able to get that puppy up around 2,000HP with some good boost...
Actually, I think it could be more sleeper than mine. It's just a tall deck big block. By doing a setup similar to Monty's, it might fit under a tall L-88 hood or twin turbo hood. That's one of the things I really like about Monty's setup - it fits more in line with my original plans - to keep it all under a fairly stock hood. One thing is for sure, it can't be much less sleeper that what I have now!
Monty - yeah, I'm drooling big time! Saw your engine over on another forum - looking good! Those wastegates look like mini-chainsaw motors to me. OK, what are you REALLY up to? ;)
Daniel - I'm sorry to say, that I am actually thinking about a C-2 for the 708. Who knows? Either way it will have a completely different frame so Merlin I will probable stay or go as one unit.
1.) All out racing:
Stroked twin-turbo small block
2.) Madness:
Merlin Rolls Royce V12
3..) Yeeehuh: (The most likely one)
Aluminum BB 427. Twin Turbo/ Twin intercooler. EFI with 8 throttle plates like the BMW M5. Dry Sump. I'd say 800-1000 hp at the wheels on pump-gas :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Torque Engineering makes an aluminum 860 cid V12, 1200hp. Primarily used in boats, but a V12 under the hood would sound great.
