"Build up the fender"??? No, that will be a disaster. If you need it to be higher you need to cut the panel along where the factory would have put the bonding seam, raise the top and then bond it back together. Put a bonding strip behind it and fill the gap with resin & mat.

I don't think you see the problem. The fender doesn't need to be raised. The fender crown line hits the door perfect.

Thanks Alan. What do you see in the angle I show on the previous pics? The green vert seems to have the steep angle off the crown down to the deck lid.
So after all this I decided to set the lid with the door and build up the inside edge to match. I hope I don't have the "disaster" Zwede warned me about. I think it looks good. I can move on. Stalled here too long.
I'll post another pic tomorrow after smoothing it out. Geez, Zwede "disaster" is going to keep me up tonight!
"Disaster" as in trying to shape that compound curve nicely. It will be tricky. Hope it works out for you.
I found that on the front fenders where the ZL flares where bonded. Seems like I work them for hours just to be right back where I started. A flat spot somewhere in the compound area.
Might be frustrating but the satisfaction once you "get it" is worth it.
If you are trying to do this without the body on the frame, you are making a big mistake. Here is my body on the dolly. If you notice the door gap, once I put it back on the frame it came right back in. The convertible bodies flex and until it is pulled down on the frame mounts you will not know where you are at.

I understand, but I build my dolly with front and rear supports. Used factory frame measurments to adjust the mounting points on the dolly to square it up. Any discrepancy now should be within shim distance.
Of coarse I may be wrong. Time will tell.
Robrace10; Nice ride! What are the wheel/tire sizes? Just the look I want for my other car. ('74 coup)
