I have a 1973 corvette and the rear spring is pretty much shot. I'm sitting about 3-3.5" above the ground and scrape the exhaust pipes each time I go over any bumps. I found out they offer both a 7 and 9 ply rear leaf spring. Can anyone tell me which would be the best to use on my car. Also, my current spring has some kind of plastic or rubber spacers inbetween each layer, is this important to replace? Thanks.

Hi Glenn,
I believe the 9 leaf spring was standard on your car, and the 7 leaf was a stiffer optional spring. There was very little difference in ride height between the two springs.
The spring liners are there to help the leaves move quietly against each other as they flex. New liners should be installed when you put the new spring in place.
Good Luck!

Alan
Hi Glenn,
I just saw your post about header wrap.
If you have a non-stock exhaust system on your car, that could be the cause of the ground clearance problem.... not the rear spring.
The pipes should be almost tight up against the bracket for the strut rods.
If you post a picture of that area it might help to someone figure out your situation.

Alan

Count your leaves, the 7 leaf is for the Gymkhana suspension and is a pretty stiff spring. If you have a standard 9 leaf spring I would recommend you stick with that. If you need a replacement I have them in stock.
