Ambient 90*F. Windows open, doors open, nothing buttoned up. What would be a good temp at a dash ball outlet when A/C engaged at ~1,200rpm? In other words a garage static test with no air flow over the condenser.
a 30* (F) drop is usually pretty good. And that's with the car closed, A/C on recirculate, fan on high. At the center vent. The side vents will probably be a little lower on the right and higher on the left
Thanks Tim. Garage was 93*F with convertible top down and passenger side ball vent was 60*F at 1,500rpm. I will try with top up in a couple of days and MAX/Recirc engaged.
I live in South Florida and mine will blow around 40 degrees even when the outside temp is in the 90's. One thing I found, and what a lot of folks miss, is that the rear hood weather stripping must provide a proper seal. Before I replaced it, the best I could do was in the high 40 degree area. If there is leakage at this seal, engine compartment very hot air will find its way into the duct work. An easy test for this is to run with the a/c off and the vents pulling outside air. The temp at the vents s/b that of the outside air. When I did this test, my vent temp was at around 95 degrees. Immediately after replacing this rear hood weather stripping, the temp dropped to around 75 degrees, that of the o/s air and my a/c temp dropped to 40 degrees.
