Today i finished laying out my stainless steel fuel and brake lines. However, i'm a bit confused with the torque specs for the line brackets.
I have an assembly manual and it states that the torque spec is between 72-96lbs. I feel that this is too much for these bolt. i feel that if try to reach these numbers i will ruin the bolt. do you guys have any ideas?
A torque spec would never be noted in just "lbs." It has to be either ft-lbs or in-lbs. In this case if the range is 72 - 96, it must be inch-pounds. One ft-lb equals 12 in-lbs. Therefore 72 in-lbs = 6 ft-lbs.
You need to purchase a copy of the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual for your year car. It has most all the information you will ever need to know about your car. Fastener torque specs on engine/transmission/suspension/steering are all in the specifications section at the back of the manual.
