I'm putting together my dash, wiring and such. The car is a non AC car. I have the side vents in the dash, and there is some sort of flapper in there that is missing the axles (flapper sits loose). How were these side vents shut ?
Also, out of a spare car I have some of the mid console ventilation. Temperatures overall here require us most of the time having to drive with heating on. Right now, the only heating is at the bottom of the heater system inside. Is there any way, you could get hot air to come out on the top of the mid console as well ?
If you have a non-A/C car, it won't have the upper dash mounted outlets (above gauge cluster); it will only have the kickpanel vent doors, the [lower] heater outlets, and the Atro-Ventilation ***** at either side of the dash. The heat should be able to get directed to the Astro-Vent ***** when your control is set to AIR position and temp wheel is run to "HOT". Also, the pull ***** for the vent ***** will need to be pulled full-out for them to be open.
For those kickpanel doors, the slide ***** on either side of the heater control unit are supposed to regulate them. There is a cable from those slide ***** to each of the kickpanel doors.

Oops! I missed the part about it being a '79 (but I see that it is in your Forum name). I'm afraid that any info I've provided will not be applicable to the '79 model. Sorry.
